In this presentation, we base on the research of Amy Lai Tak-yee (from 2000-2002). She choose an English-language community website, ICERED, to examine. The aim of her research is find out the Hong Kong cyberculture, discuss the context of ‘Cyberdemocracy’ and also want to dig out which group of people are marginalized, how they are being marginalized by others.
After reading the research, we find that the case is very similar in some local Chinese-language community. Therefore, we choose one of the forum Uwants.com and discuss the issues with some Chinese example. The result show that no matter the target user in ICERED and Uwants is different. But the issues which Amy suggests is more or less the same.
